Located in the southwestern portion of North Carolina, Waxhaw is in Union County. Approximately 14,194 residents call this area home. An interesting note about Waxhaw is that the first gold deposits in America were found in this region.

There are several local events that take place throughout the year. In March, the town holds an Easter Eggstravaganza. The third weekend of May is reserved for Kaleidoscope Fest. This is a two-day art event that features paintings, pottery, and woodwork. There are performers as well, including musicians and street dancers.

During the second weekend in October, visit Autumn Treasures. This is a two-day event featuring arts and crafts. Music and a barbecue are provided as well.

Waxhaw celebrates Halloween with Fright Night. During this evening, everyone dresses up in costumes and visits the business district. There’s trick-or-treating and costume contests. Also, there’s a haunted maze in David G. Barnes park. Several more events are held, including scavenger hunts.
